Lauren Ward receives 2012 Isa Dorsky Legacy Award; Farewell to Seniors

At Shabbat dinner on Friday, April 20, we wished farewell to our graduating seniors, and awarded Hillel’s prestigious Isa Dorsky Legacy Award to Lauren Ward  MBA ’12, of Grapevine, TX. Lauren was an intern at Hillel for the 2011-12 school year and also served as graduate representative. She is pictured here with fellow intern and student board Executive Vice President Meghan Wilgus of Vernon Hills, IL, and Hillel student board President Bryan Kellert of Atlanta, GA. Lauren has been active with Bama Hillel since her undergraduate years, and describes how important Hillel has been during her college experience: “I love being involved in Hillel… when I came to UA in 2007 I really missed home and family, but since then Hillel has become a second home, and family.” Thank you Lauren for your years of commitment to Hillel!

All graduating seniors were also honored at the dinner and received gifts.  Pictured on the home page banner are seniors Jason Berman, Debbie Flax, Blake Meyrowitz, Nathan “Tank” McDonald, Heather Rousso, Lauren Ward, and Elizabeth Bernstein. A special thank you to Heather Rousso who served as Hillel student president for the 2011-12 school year.  Heather, Lauren and all the graduates will be missed!!

The Legacy Award was established in 2009 in honor of Hillel student president Isa Dorsky. It is a way to honor a graduating student who has been exceptionally dedicated to Bama Hillel and who has made a significant and lasting impact on Jewish student life at UA. Previous recipients include Isa Dorsky (’09), Miriam Fry (’11), and Alex Grodner (’11).
